“Conditioning your Body with Yoga”Warm Up and Stretch Feb Part 2 2016"

Hello my dear Readers hope by now you have your behind “Up” from the sofa and take it to BURN the Extra Calories we eat this Holidays. So thinking you still have in your Forehead written that “You have to always Warm Up” in a treadmill, Elliptical either walking, jogging not to hard at least 15-20 minutes “ALWAYS”....after this I will show you with some Yoga Positions how to “Condition Your Body” and at the same time working in your “Strength and Flexibility” of all your Muscles before you go Straight to the Weights Room. Remember that the porpoise of the Warm Up is to elevate your temperature to prepare your muscles for a higher Intensity Exercises, improve your circulation, range of motion or “Flexibility” to avoid a “muscle cramp or Tear”. Again if you are being Trained and your trainer takes you RIGTH into the Work Out with OUT a Pre Warm Up “I think he is NOT a good Trainer” either you are 20 years old and you may not be HURT in that moment ,but sure after you cool down you may start feeling PAIN or you are 30,40 or 50 Years old and our Bodies are NOT well prepare to Work Out and just following a “Trainer”(specially the young ones) that doesn’t ask you to Warm Up.With or Without a Trainer ALL of US have to always “Warm Up”, this is “MANDATORY”even for Athletes ...is not Optional.Train Smart and Safe.

So here are “6 Yoga Basic Positions” that you can do taking you time to “Breath” and Enjoy the Stretching doing this Positions “Slow and be Aware” of the Muscles you are Stretching.

1.- Up Dog (Stretching abs, spine, some lower back).
You Start Body facing down horizontal on the floor, hands fully open fingers well spread next to your Chest, legs straight instep facing the floor”look at my feet in the image”...Inhale.As you Exhale you will push away your upper body , chest and shoulders out of the floor, keep you HIPS trying to not move and stay in the floor so you REALLY feel the stretch from your waist UP, do NOT squeeze your BUTT let it be relax so you feel the elongation and stretch of the Lower Back, keep you CHIN up but do NOT tense your trapezes muscles. Hold the position as long as you want and repeat 5-10 times with a correct breathing.See image #1 in detail.

2.- Down Dog( Intense stretching of calves, hamstrings, gluts, dorsal muscles).
Keeping you hands in the same place you are from Up Dog you will put your toes touching the ground and now move your Butt and Tail Bone towards the ceiling, hands and fingers well spread and your legs will be fully straight trying to maintain both heels on the ground to get the effective stretch to all the muscles of the back of the legs (see in detail the image).Breath slow and controlled when you hold the Position.See image #2.

3.-Runner Stretch(stretching hamstrings,hip flexor,quadriceps,calves).
Please position your body as you see in the image.Left leg in the front flexed with knee align vertically with your ankle(if your knees passes the front of your toe your position is wrong), right leg fully straight toes in the ground heel UP,right arm on the floor locked as support and left arm fully extended to the front..Breath..Hold the position al long as you want then switch legs. See image #3.

4.- Triangle Pose(stretching lower back chest,shoulders,gluts,hamstrings,calves).
Position your body as you SEE in the image.Left leg straight facing forward, right leg fully straight moving away from the middle of body facing knee to the side (yes you need some balance) slowly move your right arm and put your hand down your knee, twist and open your Torso UP and as a guide use your left arm fully extended towards de ceiling opening the chest....Hold and breath, just breath.. Hold the position al long as you want then switch legs.See image #4.

5.-Lateral Spine Side Stretch( stretching waist, lower back, dorsal muscles, gluts, hamstrings, calves).Position your body on the floor legs spread out and straight with toes pointing, keep them like this as you move your Torso laterally to the right leg, your right arm will be in the front as support for the stretch while your left arm will be rise UP opening your dorsal muscles, waist and lower back.Breath and hold as much as you want, then switch sides.See image #5.

6.- Pigeon pose head down(intense stretch for gluts, hamstrings, hip flexor).
Position your body with right leg flexed, heel away from your crotch so is more intense the Glut and hamstring stretch, left leg relaxed and fully straight, bend forward your torso and extend both arms to the front..breath...Hold the position al long as you want then switch legs.See image #6.
